"A standing wave, also known as a stationary wave, is a wave that remains in a constant position...it can arise as a result of interference between two waves traveling in opposite directions..."
This piece is an intentionally failed attempt at creating a standing wave visually and aurally. The sound is of two oscillators attempt to become in tune and drifting just before they do The imagery as a rather pun-based interpretation of standing wave is useful in that, while deadpan, it connotes an idea of an internal struggle an image of two forces beating against each other in a failed attempt to find unison with a desire to simultaneously say hello and goodbye; to attract and to repel
The installation is intended for two semi-overlapping projections which create the middle image. They are to be installed in a corner of a room so as to instantly greet viewers.
